Born from a decade of making music, years of chasing speakers, and one master's thesis on room acoustics.
I've been producing music for over ten years and collecting, repairing, and selling loudspeakers since 2020. From Altec and TAD horns to Lowther full-range drivers, from ATC and Focal monitors to Klipsch and beyond — I've owned, measured, and listened to a lot of speakers in a lot of rooms.
At EPFL, I studied signal processing and acoustics, which turned a passion into proper engineering knowledge. My master's thesis — conducted at Logitech — focused on room acoustics: using machine learning to estimate acoustic parameters of a room from ambient sounds like voice and music, replacing the traditional measurement chirp. The work resulted in a published scientific paper.
Today I rent a studio space in Lausanne where I produce music as a passion project — it also serves as a dedicated listening room. When I discovered the Dutch & Dutch 8c, the combination of acoustic cardioid design, boundary coupling, and built-in room correction felt like everything I'd been looking for — a speaker that takes room interaction as seriously as I do.
Callens Audio Labs exists to bring that experience to the French-speaking part of Switzerland. I handle every demo, setup, and calibration personally — because the difference between a good speaker and a great-sounding room is always in the details.
